The mission of the Kittery Historical and Naval Society is:
to encourage the study of local history... and to operate a public museum to display its collections.
We are an independent, non-profit organization, managed by a crew of volunteers. We appreciate Kittery, and we enjoy learning about its colorful history, collecting its artifacts, and telling its stories. We try to make friends, welcome visitors, and enrich our culture.

Membership in the Society and its Museum gives you:

Volunteer with us
Can you help out at the Museum for a couple of hours a week? This is a perfect way to share Kittery's history, learn more about it, and really be one of the crew.
We can engage your skills, experience and knowledge... or provide an easy task with no experience needed. Open season is our most active time, from April through October. Scheduling is flexible.

We are the historical society in the oldest town in Maine. We are devoted to the study of local history. We operate the Museum near the Kittery traffic circle, and we sponsor events year-round. In most years, we welcome visitors from across the USA and around the world.
